Trust Your Training

My career to this point has been circuitous. I started as a yoga instructor, then earned my MSW at Simmons University, and built my credentials to an LCSW with my own private practice. In addition, I now wear a separate non-clinical hat: perimenopause coach.

Coaching is future focused and helps women progress toward a better self. Motivated by the frustration of my personal experience with perimenopause. I worked to build off my knowledge of behavior change and grief processing, I pursued credentials in perimenopausal support. I completed the Perry Academy® Perimenopause Certificate®—a multidisciplinary, evidence-based program taught by leading experts in perimenopause and menopause care.
My background has given me a strong foundation in behavior change, skill-building, and supporting people as they create steadier patterns for well-being. Coaching gives me a way to bring my experience into compassionate and practical support for women in perimenopause.

I know what it's like to realize the strategies that worked for you for decades don't necessarily work the same way anymore. In my 20s and 30s, I trained for ultra marathons and took up mountain biking. It wasn’t a competitive thing. It was a fun way to explore the mountains where I lived and to test my limits.
As I entered my mid-fifties, I realized I had relied on my old training habits to get through all of life's challenges. In the middle of doing something hard, when I feel like giving up, I lean into the lessons I learned on the trails: don’t give up, slow my pace if I have to, look ahead instead of at the obstacles, and keep up the momentum. This muscle memory kicks in when I’m under stress. Perimenopause made me realize I needed to upgrade my old trusty habits. My foundational habits were fine. But now, I needed to accommodate the new stress load caused by hormonal chaos. It has inspired me to help others build their own skills so they too can learn to “trust your training.”
